SAIS Launches Employer Campaign

Career Services has launched an ambitious new campaign to enhance the visibility of the SAIS “brand” with employers most sought after by SAIS students. “SAIS 200” combines the creation of strong teams of alumni already employed by the designated employers with regular staff visits and ongoing communication between Career Services relationship managers and the employers.

The marketing effort is aimed at increasing international employment and internship opportunities available to students by raising the SAIS profi le with senior hiring managers, top recruiters and high-level executives. Over time, the campaign is expected to result in a growing number of applicants to SAIS with diverse professional backgrounds and to lead to a range of new partnerships between SAIS and the employers.

“The key to the success of this new effort to strengthen and expand the school’s relationship with its most important employers is the establishment of strong teams of alumni who can help promote SAIS inside their organization,” said Ron Lambert, director of Career Services. “We also hope that, by providing increased individual customer service to those employers, we can better serve their need to identify future talent for their organization.”

Over the summer months, Lambert and his staff assembled a list of 200 employers that most consistently have hired SAIS graduates or have provided internship opportunities for students. The list includes both large organizations with many alumni as well as smaller organizations that may not employ a large number of alumni but are of special interest to students. The private sector, the public sector and nonprofi t organizations are all represented among the employers, mirroring the career patterns of SAIS students.

SAIS alumni at these “SAIS 200” employers recently received a letter from the employment relationship manager on the Career Services team, outlining the objectives of the campaign and encouraging alumni to work together to promote hiring of SAIS students.

Career Services offers a package of individualized services to “SAIS 200” employers, including priority scheduling of recruiting dates at SAIS, relationship managers within Career Services to assist with customized searches for internship and employment candidates and greater visibility with SAIS students and faculty.

For a list of the “SAIS 200” employers, visit www.sais-jhu.edu/careerservices and go to the employer section. Alumni who are interested in having their employer participate in the campaign should contact Ron Lambert at RTLambert@jhu.edu.
