Bernsteins Fund SAIS Expansion
SAIS Advisory Council member and Johns Hopkins University trustee David Bernstein and his wife, Pat, have committed $2 million to support SAIS’s expansion into the Bernstein-Offit Building at 1717 Massachusetts Ave. in Washington, D.C. Classrooms, conference rooms and offices for the International Economics, International Development, African Studies and International Policy programs will be located in the new seventh-floor space. The Bernsteins will receive the SAIS Founders Award at commencement to honor their extraordinary dedication to the school. Development and Alumni Relations Leadership Transition Scott Rembold, associate dean for Development and Alumni Relations at SAIS, has been promoted to associate vice president of Development for JHU. His successor, Amir Pasic ’87, returns to SAIS from The George Washington University, where he was vice president for Advancement; Pasic was SAIS director of Development and manager of special projects from 2001 to 2005. SAIS is conducting a search for a new Alumni Relations director. Staff Ride Endowment Established SAIS Advisory Council member David Fuhrmann ’82 made a leadership gift of $100,000 to establish the Strategic Studies Staff Ride Endowment and issued a challenge pledge to match additional gifts. JHU Knowledge for the World Tour Continues JHU will launch the second round of its Knowledge for the World Campaign Tour in September. Tour stops include Atlanta, Denver, Miami and Raleigh/Durham; all will feature alumni receptions preceded by academic forums with SAIS and JHU professors.
